Here's the Police Blotter for April from my neighborhood's monthly paper, alternating with entries from the police blotter of the town that Daniel and I want to move to in Washington state:
L.A.-Victim was sitting at the bus stop when suspect approached him. Suspect punched victim and knocked him to the ground. The suspect took victim's property and fled on foot. 2:45 am on a Sunday night.
WA.-Surveillance video at a Sims Way hardware store shows a man and a woman taking a pressure washer valued at $1700 from the store's parking lot around 6pm on Thursday. It was placed in a small SUV, possibly a Honda, police said.
L.A.-March 2nd at 9:00am, suspects pried open the rear kitchen door and entered. Suspects ransacked rooms and removed property and fled.
WA.-Police are investigating the theft of computer components shipped to an 89 year old man who lives at a seniors complex. Two employees told police that someone signed for the delivery while the man was away, but the package disappeared before he returned.
L.A.-March 4th at 3 am, suspects smashed rear window of victim's residence, gained entry. Suspects ransacked home and took property. Suspects were confronted by victim. Suspect fled on foot leaving car at scene. Victim's property returned to them.
WA.-Someone "spoofed" the email address of a 58 year old woman making it look as if she were sending spam. She is concerned that her identity might have been stolen.
L.A.-March 6th, 7:00am. Suspects entered rear sliding door, ransacked and took property. Suspect fled location with property.
WA.-Police took a report of a verbal domestic dispute. A 50 year old man and a 46 year old woman were arguing about their breakup when neighbors alerted police to the scene.
L.A.-March 6th, 3am. Suspect told victim "I want you." Suspect became upset with victim after she refused advances. Suspect struck victim with rocks and fled location.
WA.-A 1998 Honda Accord was "egged" on 20th Street causing about $50 damage.
